i forgot how much fun shooting live band photography was, and the d3 really shines in these kinds of situations. the fast shutter was able to "bracket" shots as the lights changed while also snagging some remote flash from other photographers as they flash, the higher iso let me shoot using only the stage lights, and the double CF cards let me shoot as much as i wanted. |

i had fifteen minutes to setup and meter three lights (main was a beauty dish on a boom which was a blast to setup), and three minutes to shoot the band before they went on. after we shot i broke the whole thing down in five minutes, then ran inside and muscled my way up through a sold out crowd to the security pit so i could snag some live shots of them playing. |
